Willie Green

October 16, 1945 — November 20, 2024

Pampa

Willie Green was born on October 6, 1945, in Vernon, Texas, to Hardy Green and Margaret Clements. Raised in Borger, Texas, he spent half his life there before moving to Pampa, Texas, where he married the love of his life, Dorothy Williams, on October 5, 1990. Their 34-year union was a testament to love, partnership, and resilience.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Willie retired from Burlington Santa Fe Railroad after a fruitful career. He found great joy and cherished his time around his grandchildren.

A man of simple pleasures, he valued quiet days of rest, home-cooked meals and relaxation especially on dialysis-free days, where he could unwind, watch his favorite Westerns, and delight in his daily TV shows.

Known for his warm sense of humor, Willie had a gift for storytelling and joke-telling that came with an infectious laugh and a radiant smile that could light up the room.

Willie is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved brother Waldo Green , and his special aunt, Irene Clements.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through his wife, Dorothy, of Pampa; his son, Willie Green Jr., and wife Trish of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; daughters, Audrey Green of Dallas, Paula Green of Amarillo, Angelique Green-Sykes and husband Darrell of Amarillo, Pamela Jones-Burch and husband David of Vancleave, Mississippi, and Felicia Starks of Arlington, Texas.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: April, Drake, Tadjea, Arielle, Jeremy, Jmico, Amisha, Joseph, Jordan, Serenity, Cameron, Lionel III, and Preston; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will forever treasure his memory.

Willie "WAG" Green will forever hold a special place in our hearts. His legacy and character leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and the Green legacy continues for generations to come.
