Willie Owen

Willie Waylon Owen, 86 of Fritch died Sunday May 11th in Fritch. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, May 16th at Victory Baptist Church in Stinnett with Rev. Bill Browning, pastor Broadway Baptist and rev. Jim Lewis, pastor Victory Baptist officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Visitation will be Thursday May 15th at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Fritch from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Willie will lie in state at Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors in Fritch from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday.

Willie was born May 2, 1928 in Thornton, Texas to Willie Rice Owen and Jewel Ruth Clancy Owen. He married Jeanne Browning November 6,1948 in Clute, Texas. He was ordained as a deacon November 1962 at Cliffside Baptist in Amarillo. He was a member of Broadway Baptist in Fritch. He loved Blue Grass music. He moved with his wife to Fritch on September 10,1975.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters.

Willie is survived by his wife Jeanne of Fritch. Daughters Judy Ziegelgruber and husband Roy of Fritch, Ruth Owen of Canyon, Texas. Grandchildren Joe Lewis and wife Crystal, Billy Lewis, John Lewis and wife Jennifer, Christopher Lewis and Sherri Thompson. Five great grandchildren.
